Celebrate National Freelancers Day in Aberdeen
Copthorne Hotel, Aberdeen, 23rd November from 6.30pm
Be part of and show your support for National Freelancers Day by joining fellow freelance consultants, interim managers and contractors at a special National Freelancers Day event at the Copthorne Hotel in Aberdeen.
To evolve the themes of the day, PCG is hosting a panel led discussion with each panel member providing their own unique insight and questions. The evening will primarily take the format of a group discussion, with questions to the panel and views being raised by the freelancers and contractors present. You are welcome to be as involved as you want in the discussions, or just listen if you prefer.
This event will let you contribute to and build on activities of the day and explore subjects such as:
- What does freelancing mean for you?
- What support systems are in place for freelance businesses?
- How freelance businesses can evolve, develop and "raise their game"?
- The opportunities and challenges for freelance businesses in the current economic climate and beyond?
- Why freelancing is vital to the UK economy and the potential for freelancing in the evolving business world?
- How businesses could better harness the UK freelance talent pool.
- Shonah Raffan, Managing Director of Strategic Resources European Recruitment Consultants Ltd focussing on the prospects for freelance contractors and consultants. Shonah has been involved in the recruitment of oil industry permanent and contract personnel from the company’s inception in 1987. Strategic Resources has a strong financial background which has stood the company in good stead over this current downturn in business and has been actively liaising with clients to discuss their future needs.
- Martin R Watt of Bon Accord Accountancy Limited focussing on tax and freelance contractors and consultants
- Scott Glennie, a Project Manager at Aker Solutions - Scott is a Chartered Engineer with 20 years experience in the Oil, Gas and Marine business in UK & internationally. In this time he has worked in project leadership in Manufacturing, Engineering but primarily as an Operator. He has a wealth of knowledge in project start-up, change & recovery including awards for his personal contributions on business recovery and Shutdown Management. Latterly he has worked as Delivery and Project Manager for some of Aberdeen's leading engineering companies and specialises in risk-based portfolio management of Brownfield projects in the UKCS.
- Peter Sharp of Mcgrigors - A legal expert looking at employment status and worker rights. Peter has been providing employment advice for more than 20 years and for 10 years has been accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Employment Law. He is one of five partners leading McGrigors' 45 strong team of specialist employment lawyers. Scotland's largest team working predominately for employers in the private sector the team is listed by the Legal 500 Directory of lawyers as "top tier".

8.30 pm End (light refreshment provided followed by more networking in the bar)
